Introduction
Backed by more than 90 years of plumbing experience, IAPMO is North America's premier plumbing product testing and certification agency. Recently, IAPMO expanded its operations by opening its first product test lab in Mexico, known as IAPMO Mexico. Located in Monterrey, this lab is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by ema entidad mexicana de acreditación, a.c. (ema) and approved by the Comisión Nacional del Agua (CONAGUA).
IAPMO's Vision
When the industry sought options for product testing in Mexico, IAPMO was confident in its ability to provide a superior solution and invested in building the laboratory in Mexico. This physical presence in the country allows IAPMO to further understand the complexities of the Mexican market and provide the company with resources to expedite products to market with prompt certification—a critical factor for manufacturers.
A Long-Awaited Endeavor
The establishment of the IAPMO Mexico test lab has been in the works for several years, with numerous requests for such a facility coming directly from U.S. manufacturers and CONAGUA. This marks the latest step in IAPMO's commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of plumbing products through product certification for Mexico. Notably, IAPMO R&T and IAPMO R&T Lab were the first certification body and test lab outside of Mexico to receive ema accreditation and CONAGUA approval to test and certify plumbing products destined for the Mexican market. This accredited certification process provides assurance to all stakeholders involved that the products to be sold have met all applicable codes and standards.
Comprehensive Testing Services
Initially, IAPMO Mexico will focus on testing toilets and urinals as specified under Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-002-CONAGUA-2021 standard. These products will undergo rigorous testing for material and performance compliance, ensuring their quality for consumers.
